What I'm Reading Wednesday

First, I want to express my sadness over the shooting at Ft. Hood today. I, along with so many, am shocked that this happened again, just 5 years after the first shooting. Matt and I are praying for the victims and their families.

Today I want to share with you what I'm reading!
The New Parenting Style That Might Be More Than a Fad. So when this started showing up in my Facebook feed yesterday with people all up in arms, I had to read the article. At first I was like, "What the what?? Are you CRAZY??" Then, I clicked a few links and found out the truth of said article...it was a brilliant April Fool's joke thanks to Honest Toddler! I love it! (And it goes to show that you've GOT to do research when you read stuff on the interwebs...just because it's there doesn't make it true!) Big props to you Honest Toddler for fooling so many people!
15 Ab Exercises by Maria Kang, made famous via social media for her 'controversial' post about "What's your excuse" regarding making time for exercise. Well, I happen to think she's on point...love her and I love how she tells everyone straight up that she's not perfect, she has stretch marks, she misses workouts, she doesn't eat clean 24/7. Anyhow... this is a great list of ab exercises and I've been doing them for a few weeks. So yes, I'm reading about ab workouts! :)
Monthly Subscription Box List from Two Chics and a Blog. I currently don't subscribe to any monthly boxes, but I've considered it. I had NO IDEA there were so many! It's kind of overwhelming, but really neat to see all the choices out there!
Hyperthyroid Diagnosis from Pomme Wellness, one of my colleagues. Ya'll, read her husband's story. Read it! It's scary, but has a WONDERFUL ending!

What I'm Reading Wednesday

Happy Wednesday to you!

Here are a few blog posts I'm loving this week! I hope you like them as well! And I'd love for you to share your favorites...I'm always on the hunt for new reading material!

My friend and colleague, Amber, shared her wonderful story about how she and her husband were able to get their daughter off prescription allergy and asthma medications! Their journey is awesome and not only is their daughter so much healthier, but they saved over $100 per month just by switching to natural supplements! Annnnddd... she is being flown out to New York this week by Shaklee to share her story! I LOVE testimonials like this! Read it here: Asthma....7 months later

Lil Blue Boo...one of my favorite blogs ever. I've been reading Ashley's blog since 2009! Wow! She recently posted a fun tutorial for personalized burlap bags. I think these would be super cute teacher gifts this spring! Read about it here: Personalized Burlap Bags

My friend, Jenny, shared how to clean your stainless steel water bottles using lemon essential oils. This was timely for me...since you're not supposed to put the water bottles in the dishwasher, I've always wondered how clean I'm actually getting them! Read about how to do it here: Sanitizing Your Reusable Water Bottle

Lastly, I just recently discovered this blog, Walking in Memphis High Heels. I'm so loving Laura's style and I wish I had more places to wear her super cute ideas! I'm a workout clothes type of girl during the week, but I LOVE getting dressed up when I can! I really, really love this maxi dress! Read about it here: Maxi

What I'm Reading Wednesday

Happy Wednesday to you! I hope you've been having a great week so far. Ours has been good...so hot and humid, but good!

Here's a few links to some of my favorite blog posts over the week. Enjoy!

Jessica over at Definitely Maybe writes about the goal of her blog. I so appreciate the honest of what she writes and her aspirations of being a Godly wife and mom!

Jenny at Conscientious Confusion is talking about tips to getting back into shape after kiddos. She is a pilates instructor and also teaches kids yoga (FUN!). Her tips are real life and practical. I so love tip #2, but you'll need to check it out for yourself. Jenny, can you come to my side of the metroplex and teach pilates please??

I perfuse Young House Love a lot and just drool, drool, drool over their projects. Have you seen their blog? Basically, they're this young, spunky couple who buys homes fixes them up all the while blogging about it. Then they flip it and start over on a new one. I wish I had their talent (and energy!)

Have a great day!

What I'm Reading Wednesday

Here are a few links to my favorite blog posts over the past week. Enjoy!

Conscientious Confusion writes about waste-free lunches. I'm big on waste-free lunches and NOT giving in to the convenience of fast food. Planning ahead and making my boys' lunches for our outings can be challenging for me...the planning part is the hardest. Many times I want to just pop through the drive thru and get them something because it's easier. But my tree hugging soul says, "No, not worth it!"

Lil Blue Boo talks about organizing drawers. Drawers are something we lack in our home (yes, really!) but our deep cabinets have become junk holes and I'm going to try to implement some of her tips to get them back in shape.

I Heart Organizing revamped her outdoor storage bench and I'm in love. We need a storage bench/box for all the boys' outdoor toys, but they're usually so ugly! She made hers look so homey...I'm adding this to my to do list for the summer!

100 Days of Real Food gave us a recipe for homemade fudge pops! Oh, yum! We love frozen treats around here and I'm sure my 4 year old will LOVE helping me make these!

Barefoot in the Kitchen made some chocolate snack cake. (I'm starting a chocolate trend, I think!) This looks amazing!

What I'm Reading Wednesday

Is it already Wednesday?? My goodness, the holiday weekend has really thrown me off schedule!

It's been a busy few days; but really...it's always busy with two little guys! I have had a chance to sneak in a little blog reading though. Here are a few of my favorite posts over the past week!

Enjoy!

Clean Lean Mommy Machine has a great post about prepping snacks for the kids. I'm going to try this with my boys. We really try to give them clean, healthy snacks like what's in her list, but there are times when I just grab a pack of crackers simply for convenience.

What Courtney Wore makes me sigh. In jealousy. Girlfriend has an amazing sense of style...I 'discovered' Courtney a few years back on trash reality tv: Most Eligible Dallas. (Yes, I have a tendency to watch those types of shows. You do too, and you know it!)  I've always loved her and I want her to come make over my closet. Please, Courtney? Help this suburban mama out! :)

The Marathon Mom somehow has time to be a wife, a mom to EIGHT BOYS, blog, workout, cook, clean, and still keep her sanity! She's always posting yummy looking recipes and I want to give this one a try. We love granola around here!

What are some of your favorite blogs? I'm always looking for new reading material!

What I'm Reading Wednesday

I have a TON of favorite blogs in my Bloglovin' and Google Reader feed. I'm starting a new weekly (hopefully weekly!) series called, "What I'm Reading Wednesday." It's just going to be a list of my favorite blog posts from the past week!

Enjoy!

Sole Searching: She inspires me. She's a homeschooling mom to 5 (?) boys and lives out in rural Kansas. How she has time to wife, parent, run, blog, clean, and keep her sanity is beyond me. She's got a great sense of humor and I love all her posts! Practical & spiritual motivators for life-long fitness is a great post for those of us (me) who need some spiritual motivation to get off my tush!

Conscientious Confusion: I know Jenny personally. We met way back when...in Dallas, at a home group for our church. Jenny and her family are neat-o! She's a green loving mommy, but what I really love about her blog is that she's not an alarmist, she doesn't post things to freak you out. Here's one that I can relate to. In fact, I was going to post something about this very topic, but she did it for me! When eating clean is hard

Crunchy Urban Mom: Ha! Another Jennie that I know personally! This Jennie is an old college roommate and she just started blogging. I love her post about making diaper covers out of pillowcases!

Monday's Nugget: I 'met' Lana via a blogging community. She has some great recipes, and some hilarious stories about the mommyhood. I do so appreciate her latest post: OK. How can I help?
